With their heads in the clouds but both feet firmly on the ground, the Cloud Infrastructure Services team (also known as CIS) is the bedrock of the IT team at Randstad Group Netherlands. Our fully cloud-based infrastructure ensures that all applications and tech needed for our three brands – Randstad, Tempo-Team, and Yacht – are able to run on a daily basis. And all that without a single data center. That’s not something you see every day!
Our applications – such as those used by our colleagues at the local branches, as well as our websites and mobile apps – are hosted in AWS. As the Cloud team, we build the automated infrastructure for this.
We also support the other IT teams in monitoring, logging, and rolling out their applications. In the near future, we will be investing more in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) in particular, for example, by making more use of container technologies in the Randstad landscape.
Our IT department works in a multi-cloud environment. The infrastructure is primarily based on AWS, but Google Cloud solutions – such as Google Data Studio and Google Workspace – are also used. Our cloud team specifically mainly works with:

As a cloud engineer ordevops engineer at Randstad, you are responsible for ensuring the readiness of the infrastructure for all our applications, databases, and colleagues who build on it. Thanks to you, it doesn’t take a single data center to keep the brain of our enterprise environment online.
As a cloud consultant at Randstad, you advise teams outside the cloud domain and contribute to developing the solutions and cloud environment of the future. Do you know how we can use our innovations in order to stay ahead? Here you can turn your ideas into reality.
As a cloud specialist, you are a member of our IT department’s Cloud Infrastructure Services team. The team consists of three sub-teams: Operations, Platform Services, and Consultancy. Operations is responsible for monitoring, but also for following up on incidents, for example. Platform Services delivers the CI/CD platforms for our development teams, and Consultancy plays a key advisory role for the teams.
Each team member has a focus sub-team, but also performs other tasks. There is a very open atmosphere in the team; colleagues ask questions and share ideas, and everyone is ready to help. The team uses an agile approach based on a mix of Scrum and Kanban.
When you join our Cloud team, we make sure that you get off to a good start. For example, you are assigned a buddy who is your point of contact for the first few months and who helps you to sort out practical matters – from installing software to requesting accounts.
You start by helping the team, after which you will start to perform tasks independently. How quickly that transition is made depends entirely on your experience.
